Proverbs 31:25

Proverbs 31:25

“Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.” **The precious woman in this picture is my paternal grandmother – Marie Aimee Nina LeBoeuf.  She was born deaf as was her husband Ollie.  They raised three sons.  Their eldest was my father.   Isn’t she lovely!!   One of the first things any person notices in another person is the clothing they wear.  We have already talked about clothing a couple of times in … Read entire article »

Proverbs 31:23

Proverbs 31:23

“Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.”                 The word Husband is translated from Hebrew as: Strong’s H1167 – ba`al 1) owner, husband, lord a) owner b) a husband c) citizens, inhabitants d) rulers, lords e) (noun of relationship used to characterise – ie, master of dreams) f) lord (used of foreign gods)   I prayed about whether or not to focus on this word in this verse and felt the Lord urging me to do so. This may … Read entire article »

Proverbs 31:21

Proverbs 31:21

She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.”   As I sit to begin this study, our night time temp has dropped to 39 degrees and my feet are freezing!!!  I have on my slippers but they are still cold.   So as I read this verse I couldn’t help but think about the thick wool socks that I have in my knitting basket still to … Read entire article »

Proverbs 31: 20

“She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.”                                                                                        The steps in my process for studying scripture are fairly simple.  I begin with the most important part – PRAYER.  In order to receive what the Lord has for us we must begin with talking with the author!  Father God inspired the Word to be written by human men and it is alive in every way.  He desires to reveal the mysteries of His Word to His children.  I read through … Read entire article »

Proverbs 31:19

Proverbs 31:19

She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. Well, I thought I would just sort of breeze through this particular verse because it seemed very cut and dried and with a few exceptions, myself being one, not many ladies spin fiber anymore.  There is a growing interest in spinning due to increase interest in knitting and crochet and that of course brings the demand for more interesting yarns.  But the vast … Read entire article »

Proverbs 31:18

Proverbs 31:18

She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.   Perceiveth – Strong’s H2938 1) to taste, perceive, eat I found it very interesting that the word “perceiveth” in this scripture is actually the word “taste” or “eat”.  In fact, this word is used 11 times in the scriptures and 10 of those times it is translated as taste.  In Psalms 34:8 we also see this word but it is translated “taste” – “O … Read entire article »

Proverbs 31:17

“She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.”   Proverbs 31:17 As I begin the examination of this verse of our study I immediately thought I had the concept already.  She, “the virtuous woman” is strong!  Yes!  But as I begin to examine the words and meditate on the verse, I realize there is so much more to this than we realize.  This one scripture could wipe me out as a candidate for virtuous.   I … Read entire article »

Proverbs 31:16

Proverbs 31:16

“She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. After a huge delay in our study, let’s get back to work!  Not many women in my neck of the woods are in the market for a vineyard.  A garden spot, yes, a vineyard, no.  This verse I believe is one of confusion for many women – especially those who have determined to be keepers at home.  But hopefully … Read entire article »

Proverbs 31: 14, 15

” She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. “  I want to cover these two scriptures at the same time because I believe the concept works together.  At this time in our world it is not such a foreign thing for us to have to drive a good distance to get a bargain.  It is really fairly common for most folks to do so and in fact it can be fun to schedule special trips into a big city or out into a farm area to get special things for our family.  I encourage women that I talk with to seek out ways to get the … Read entire article »
