The Burrell Family
Hello – we are Paul and Angelia Burrell. We are the parents of six children and grandparents to 5 grandchildren. Our son Jacob is married to his wife, Naomi and they have given us 2 precious granddaughters – Natalie and Nicole. We have 5 incredible daughters – Haley, Amanda, Sarah, Erin and Olivia. Haley is married to Sam and they live in Delta, AL. Haley is the Activities Director at a local nursing home until they begin a family. Our second eldest daughter Amanda is married to Jeremy and she has blessed us with two wonderful grandsons, Evan and Elisha. Elisha has gone on to wait for us in Heaven with the Lord Jesus. Our next daughter is Sarah, has her own sewing business and is a childcare provider for two families, lives here at Shepherds Hill. Daughter Erin is married to Andy and they live in Heflin, AL.?? Erin and Andy are the parents of little Paul Obadiah who was born in September. Our youngest daughter, Olivia lives here at Shepherds Hill as well and works at a local veternarian as a vet assistant. That comes in very handy when something is needed by the livestock here on our farm.
The entire focus of our lives is to bring honor and glory to the Lord Jesus Christ. Shepherds HIll is the name of our little farm in rural Clay County, Alabama. Our goal has always been to raise our children to be servants of the living God and to bless others as they show Christ’s love. They are all grown now and we are entering a new phase in our lives. It has been an interesting transition but we see very much the ever increasing need for our foucs to remain strong and steady in shining the Light and Love of our Lord in the??community and wherever He allows us to be connected.
For many years we have worked to build a functioning farm to preserve traditional crafts and skills for future generations. With every move of technology, skills and talents that have been “common knowledge” for hundreds of years disappear. While God expects us to “put our hand to the plow??? and to ???occupy until He comes???, we also know that “in due season, we will reap if we faint not”. Angie and I have found that our family has been drawn closer through the work of our farm. As the children grew up understanding responsibility for living things and trusting God for each and every day, they developed a deep faith and knowledge that God is their source and provision and it is through Him and Him alone that this life can bring joy and satisfaction.
Our prayer is that, if you don???t know Jesus as Savior and close personal Friend, you will be brought to Him. If you already know Him, you are part of our family and we’d love to hear from you. Either way, write us! We would love to hear from you.

Dear People of God !
I was so impressed/excited that I did not wait to read ALL of your website that has the answers to my questions. I am sorry that I jumped the gun like that. You do not have to answer my silly questions that I asked. They have been answered already( if I had paid attention). I see that you have a limit to your demonstrations and week-end visit. Do you usually have a full load? I know that you said “first come, first served…” but do I need to make reservations really early to insure a spot?
Hi David – yes, you need to get your reservations in asap. We are filling up quickly!
Just found your website and am highly impressed and thankful to have such a wonderful resource for valuable information given by such a beautiful Christ filled family. I pray God will bless you more abundantly than He has already. Praise God!
Thank you Laura – We receive that blessing in Jesus Name!!
Hello there,
I just love your precious family. I am finding so many things you have posted that I have yet to read. I can not read it fast enough!!! In my spare time (I really should be washing the dishes right now, and oh, there are clothes to put on the line, and…), but I find myself reading and learning so much from you. One of these days, we are going to make the 9 hour drive south….can’t wait to meet all of you someday!! You are such an inspiration!
Does Sarah still sell her dresses online:?
Not at this time but we will put a notice on the site when she resumes.
Yes, please let us know when she is sewing and selling once again. I would love to have a dress and an apron/pinafore………….do they come as a set? I have tried sewing some jumpers for myself…..but I am not very good at it, nor very fast!
Hey! I met you a couple weeks ago at Dr Caballero’s office-I had the son with a strange rash/infection on his face. This is the first chance I’ve gotton to get on your site-love it! I am so glad God allowed our paths to cross-I love learning as much as I can about homesteading and it’s awesome that y’all are so close! God bless!
Hi Brigett!
Yes, I remember you!! Hope all is well with your son’s rash. I know that was concerning. So glad you found us and I am tickled you are enjoying the site! I am glad our paths crossed as well and look forward to talking with you more.
Wow. You are such an inspiration to me. I’ve been so lost as to how to be a Godly homemaker, mother, wife. I never had a mom growing up to teach me God’s ways, and I just wish I had a mom like you. Thank you so much for this wounderful website and for the youtube videos.
Hello, my name is Valarie and I am in the process of changing my clothing into a more modest grouping. Would you be able to suggest a site for patterns for dresses orwould you be willing to do a video or add a pattern to your site? Thank you so much.
I Really Love ya’lls web site..So much GREAT! Information…
Blessings,Renee
I loved your short essay intitled “Enter Jezebel.” The Lord used it to help me so much. Thank you. Love, Paula
Thanks for sharing Paula. May God Bless!
You have no idea what a blessing your family and this site has been to me and now to dozens of folks in our cowboy church here in the California Sierra foothills near San Andreas California. So many of us have been striving to become more self sufficient, less is more, simple lifestyle mode. And your links have provided us with great wisdom for which I thank the Lord. Also follow you on Facebook.
Thanks Beth! How encouraging you are!!! We pray that you and all your church folk will prosper in your efforts even as your soul prospers, my friend!! Big hugs and God Bless!
Great site and vocation. Beautiful family !
Hello,
I received your mail today about ‘The Perfect Church’. Thanks for your mail. I read through the full message and I agree with you 100 percent. This has been my heart’s burden too.
I visited your website and the way you and your children have dressed modestly is lesson for today’s Christians.
God bless you and your family.
Dennis.
