What a Day That Will Be

This week we had several friends who lost loved ones. I remembered this article that I wrote many years ago. I hope it is a comfort to anyone who grieves for someone. Also, if you are facing death you will find it encouraging. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein. This morning, Angie woke me up at 4:30. She was excited and said there was something she wanted me to see. As I crawled out of bed, she explained that she’d had a terrible dream and couldn’t go back to sleep. When she came into the living room, she’d heard something outside. As I approached with her, I heard it, too. I could hear a bird chirping … Read entire article »

Shearing Time

As I was shearing one of the ewes today I had a lot of time to think.  Shearing is usually done in the spring of the year as the weather heats up. This year I ran late with the extra activities that our family had this year. Some years ago as I learned to shear it was not so peaceful a task. The first time I tried it I did a poor job. There was much weeping and gnashing of teeth (mostly mine) and the sheep did not enjoy any part of it. It turned out to be a family affair though as I had daughters on every leg and a wife encouraging me along. We used several ropes and the animal fought us fiercely. Today … Read entire article »

Separate and Unequal

This week I feel the need to re-look at something. I am seeing more and more cloudiness in the church instead of a bright and shining light. The church in my generation has become little more than the world with religion. We are going to look at the church’s separation from the world today.           As a young man I was raised in a good home. In my earliest days my mother took us to church. My father stayed home to rest and I remember the day when he started going with us. Even though he had made a commitment to Jesus at and early age he had drifted in life. At that time he was a different man. Soon he recommitted his life toChrist … Read entire article »

The Better Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

The Better Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

So if your family has jumped on the “let’s stop eating so much sugary, buttery, but oh-so yummy junk” wagon, you have probably googled and pinned your way through lots of Healthy Cookie recipes. They can range from the “Look at me; I’m using canola oil instead of butter” all the way to the “Okay, yes it tastes like saw dust and gravel, but it won’t make you fat”.  And if you are anything like … Read entire article »

Two Big to Fail

I was in the garden working with Angie this morning and doing some thinking. She and I were physically separated but able to see each other. I started thinking about how well we work together as a team. We always seem to know what the other has weakness in and uplift each other where needed. What I am weak in she is strong. What she cannot do I can do. My mind went to a section in the Book of John that I read this week also. The scripture was in John chapter nineteen. John is sometimes known for writing details that the other three Gospels don’t cover. God had four men to document the story of Jesus’ ministry. Each one covers details and when combined they produce a tapestry of … Read entire article »
