The Sins of the Fathers

          I have lately been noticing how certain things in this world take after other things. One example is that dogs bark. Dogs bark because they are dogs. Their fathers barked and their grandfathers barked. Even their ancient relatives barked; all because they are dogs. Cats meow and purr. Because they are cats, they all make the same type noises. Tested at the Depths of Despair

          I heard an interesting story this week about a submarine. It had some equipment failure and lost control and the dive planes were stuck in a downward direction. The engine was on battery and running full speed and no one could open the switch to stop it. As it dove deeper into the ocean, all the sailors began to wait. Anyone who knows about submarines knows that they have a maximum depth rating which is determined when it’s built. Engineers design each submarine knowing how deep it can go before the pressures of the deep crush it. This collapsing of the hull is an instantaneous thing and kills everyone aboard. Shame to Celebration in One Generation

       We have been quite busy with the two new grandchildren being born recently. I apologize for not getting the message up to date. We spent a lot of time in a hospital waiting room and it gave me time to think. Anytime you go outside your element there are lessons to learn. As I sat for many hours in the waiting room I watched other people. When my children were born it was quite a different setting. The image of a room full of fathers pacing the floor came back to mind. As each one had a child announced the other fathers would pat him on the back and congratulate him.
