God’s People

This message is long overdue as I have gotten questions and comments over the past months that need answers. The questions are regarding God’s people, the Jews. There is a lot of misconception about this and I wanted to look at the facts. Historically, there has always been a hatred that can only be seen as coming straight from hell regarding the Nation of Israel. Even in the news today there seems to be animosity against this small nation.              God made a covenant with Abraham approximately four thousand years ago. It is recorded in the first three verses of Genesis chapter twelve. God promised Abram (later renamed Abraham) three things. First, God promised him land. In verse one He told him to leave the land he was in and … Read entire article »

Fresh Cranberry Sauce

Fresh Cranberry Sauce

Fresh Cranberry Sauce 4 cups of Cranberries 1 Orange 1 Apple (optional) 1/2 to 1 cup sugar or splenda (depending on taste) This has been a Burrell family favorite for years! It is super easy to make and the taste of the fresh berries really puts the canned jelly to shame. I decided to add the apple for a new flavor element and I am really pleased with result. Toss all ingredients into a blender or food processor. Add a little … Read entire article »

The Breaker

Let’s look at a passage in the Book of Micah today. In chapter two are a couple of verses that I want to focus on. Micah writes in verse twelve that God said He would assemble Israel as a flock of sheep. Now, most of you know that we raise sheep so anytime I read a passage about shepherding a flock it gets my attention. Notice that He stated that He would gather the remnant of Israel together and that they would make a great noise. In verse thirteen He said that the “breaker” had come up before them. This breaker is what I want to talk about today.             Sheep are interesting animals. They are relatively defenseless but can still fight at times. I … Read entire article »

Blessed are the Peacekeepers?

Have you ever heard someone quote something from the Bible that just isn’t there? Perhaps they are ignorant of the Bible and we are just trying to be polite so we let it go without questioning them. I once heard someone quote that “money was the root of all evil”. I spoke up and told him that the Bible actually said the love of money was the root of all evil. He puffed up and argued with me until I got my Bible out and showed him what it said. Another friend said that she didn’t know much of the Bible but she did know that “cleanliness was next to Godliness”. I told her that statement wasn’t in the Bible. She looked and looked but never found the verse. There … Read entire article »
