Torah! Torah! Torah!

Click Here to watch the 3-part video of this message! The message this week has an unusual title to be sure. Those of you who have read the message from Shepherd’s Hill know that I often use titles to get people to actually read the message. It’s sad that we no longer read but skim over and speed read text. We think we know what something says but sometimes we assume and miss the point. I am not writing about a World War II movie today. This message is about the Old Testament Law. The Torah is the name of the first five books of the Old Testament.             I have watched a phenomenon over the past few years where people who are Christians but have gone back into the Jewish … Read entire article »

Paul’s Birth Story

Paul’s Birth Story

I can’t believe it has already been a week since my precious angel came into this world! Andy and I are beyond words of how happy and blessed we are that the Lord would give us a son! I want to give a HUGE “Thank You” to every one who kept us in your prayers – they were greatly needed and felt!  This week has been amazing and a little challenging just getting used to how … Read entire article »

Wildflowers and Wild Herbs at Shepherds Hill

Wildflowers and Wild Herbs at Shepherds Hill

We live in an abundantly blessed area for wild herbs and wildflowers.  I am just beginning to add them to this page and will continue for a long while.  Eventually I will separate the categories and if there are medicinal or culinary uses for the different ones I will add that information too.  This will be an ongoing process, since I want to add pics of each plant in each season so that it will be easier … Read entire article »

Return the King

Our scripture for today comes from 2nd Samuel – Chapter 19. 8: Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king doth sit in the gate. And all the people came before the king: for Israel had fled every man to his tent. 9: And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom. 10: And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back? 11: And king David sent to Zadok and … Read entire article »

Such a Beautiful Candle

The text for today’s message comes out of Luke 8:16-18. No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have. Luke 8:16-19 For the past few weeks, Erin and I have intently searched through our lives looking for anything contrary to the Word of God. One thing is certain, the more you intently look, the more God will reveal. … Read entire article »

Knitted Flowers

Knitted Flowers

My knitting basket has been sitting idle far too long, so I decided to spend this rainy Labor Day creating some simple, knitted flowers. There are many types and styles out there and they can be used to embellish sweaters, winter-caps, bags and just about anything else! I did a quick search and found a basic pattern…then I made some adjustments! I never seem to be able to follow patterns as-written! 🙂         Happy Knitting! _______________________________________________________________________ Here … Read entire article »

Get Over It!

The new website has proven to be a huge improvement over our old one. We had the first site for over ten years and established and God truly blessed our family with the outreach of it. We met new friends and connected with old ones. During those ten years we had some people come and go in our lives. They seemed to be excited to meet us and then suddenly left our lives. Some have held grudges for reasons we have never known. This week’s message looks at forgiveness.                        Turn with me to Matthew chapter six today. This passage is where Jesus taught His disciples to pray. We know this passage as the Lord’s Prayer. It is a beautiful prayer and often heard from Christians in Church services. … Read entire article »

WARNING! Water on Road

At the time of this post, tropical storm Lee is in the Gulf of Mexico. The National Weather service has said up to twenty inches of rain may fall over the gulf states and they are warning people about possible flooding. I researched a little and found that Floods kill an average of one hundred and twenty-seven people in the US each year. What is more tragic is the fact that most of those deaths are caused by people driving over flooded roadways and being swept away. Most of the deaths could be prevented. WARNING! Water on Road! How many times have you seen that sign. I don’t live in a flood prone area, however I’ve seen it a few times myself. Sometimes I’ve been puzzled because just a little water … Read entire article »

Early Morning Praise Report

It is 6:47am and Andy has already left for work. I have a load of clothes going so I can get them out before the heat gets here. Our rooster is crowing – he is reminding me that the day has already started. My grocery list is ready for the outing to Heflin where I will run some errands and spend some time having lunch with Andy 🙂 Today’s to-do’s: Bible reading, Laundry, Chickens, bedroom, clean up my sewing area, diapers, wash the refrigerator, clean out the cabinet above the washer….. In this early morning, the quietest part of the day, I am running though all of my blessings! The thankfulness in my heart for the Savior caring enough for me that all my needs are met! We have a home, cars, … Read entire article »
